All-American Girls is a tale of racism, deceit and
betrayal after the coach of an all-Negro female baseball team goes
missing in 1945 Chicago. The drama captures an era in American history
when women were called on to keep baseball alive as the men went off to
fight in World War II. Layon Gray, the writer and director of the
long-running Off-Broadway hit Black Angels Over Tuskegee, continues to
expand African-American theatre with All-American Girls, his latest work.

| Review: Wow! by Serge G. |
| Off-broadway shows continue to have hidden gems that belong on actual " Broadway". This show did not disappoint in the least bit. I was able to catch last night's performance 10/28/10. I'm very happy I went, powerful performances, everyone in the cast is memorable. Loved the dancing in Act II, the actresses made you want to be on stage with them. Each character was unique in their own special way. I never heard about this story until now. Very well written and portrayed. I loved the flash back scenes, very well choreographed! Layon Gray, continue to do your thing man, looking forward to seeing " Black Angels Over Tuskegee". Shout out to Alexis who played Betty in the show. Thanks for letting me know about the play. I'm that " Jack n coke" dude ;-) see you behind the bar at Groove. |
