COULD OFF-BROADWAY’S VENUS IN FUR HAVE A LIFE ON BROADWAY?
Published 2010-03-06
According to the Times article, Fox is looking for “a very intimate” Broadway theatre for this two character drama, however no theatres of that size are currently available.
The Off-Broadway play stars Wes Bentley and newcomer Nina Arianda, both of whom garnered praise for their performances when it opened on January 26th. Arianda is currently in the graduate acting program at New York University and Bentley is known for his roles in such films as American Beauty.
The Classic Stage Company production is the world premiere of this new play by David Ives, inspired by the well-known erotic novel of the same name.
Venus in Fur is currently playing Off-Broadway at Classic Stage Company’s theatre in the East Village. The show started previews on January 13 and is now the longest running production in Classic Stage Company history. It was extended twice and is set to close on March 28th.
