Primary Stages opens its 26th season with the NYC premiere of Secrets of the Trade by Jonathan Tolins. Presented by Primary Stages Founder & Executive Producer Casey Childs, Artistic Director Andrew Leynse, and Managing Director Elliot Fox in association with Ted Snowdon, Secrets of the Trade is directed by Matt Shakman. The cast features Amy Aquino as Joanne Lipman, Bill Brochtrup as Bradley, John Glover as Martin Kerner, Mark Nelson as Peter Lipman and Noah Robbins as Andrew Lipman.

Secrets of the Trade began Off Broadway performances Tuesday, July 27, 2010 for a limited run through Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Opening night is set for tonight, Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

In show business, it's all about who you know. Or is it? Andy Lipman, a smart, ambitious kid from Long Island dreams of a career on Broadway and hopes that his idol, theater legend Martin Kerner, can give it to him. Will Kerner open Andy's door to success, or will their complicated relationship force him to question a life in the theater?

Secrets of the Trade received its world premiere in 2008 at the Black Dahlia Theatre in Los Angeles directed by Matt Shakman and featured Amy Aquino, Bill Brochtrup and John Glover and received the 2009 GLAAD Award for Best New Play and was named by The L.A. Times as one of the "10 Best '08." Variety declared, "Flawless production." While BackStage West stated, "Critic's Pick...Meticulously crafted, exceedingly clever...A major theatrical event." L.A. Weekly simply stated, "Go!"

The creative team includes Mark Worthington (Set), Mike Durst (Lights), and John Gromada (Sound). The Production Stage Manager is Sarah Caddell.

Secrets of the Trade will play the following performance schedule: Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 3:00 p.m. on August 1, 8 & 15, and Wednesday matinees at 2:00 p.m. on August 18, 25 & September 1.
