Meryl Streep slipped quietly into The Public’s Newman Off-Broadway Theatre at the last possible moment on April 6, 2010 to check out the title performance of her prospective son-in-law in the Off-Broadway production of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, a revisionist pop-rock view of our seventh president.

Mamie Gummer, the daughter of Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep and sculptor Donald Gummer, met Benjamin Walker while the two were appearing in the Broadway revival of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 2008.

Walker, who also appeared in the 2007 production of Inherit the Wind and is currently starring in the Off-Broadway production of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson at the Public Theater, proposed on October 18, 2010.
