The Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages hosts Open Mic Mondays; "a weekly celebration of rising talent in the heart of Off-Broadway." Open Mic Mondays Off Broadway will celebrate its 3rd anniversary on Monday, July 19 at 10pm at The Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages. John Tartaglia, Tony (Avenue Q) and Emmy (Johnny and the Sprites) award nominee will co-host the evening along with Open Mic Monday host Colleen Harris and accompanist Michael James Roy.
Open Mic Monday audience members are encouraged to bring sheet music, or borrow from the collection on hand, and share their talent Off-Broadway.
The Time Out New York Lounge is Midtown’s best-kept secret! Located downstairs at New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street, you can sip a cocktail with the best of the theater scene or take your turn on the stage at weekly Open Mic Mondays, Wednesday night Jam Sessions, and Karaoke Thursday nights. With nightly programming and drink specials, it’s the most fun you can have underground! There is no cover charge; attendees must be at least 21 years old.
Tony Award (Avenue Q) and Emmy Award ("Johnny and the Sprites") nominated actor, producer, puppeteer, and writer John Tartaglia is the creative force behind the current off-Broadway hit John Tartaglia’s ImaginOcean, an innovative glow-in-the-dark musical, featuring extraordinary puppets (John voices five of the main characters -- Whipper, Snapper, Dorsel, Tank and Leonard); memorable original songs; and a heartwarming journey for audiences of all ages. Tartaglia’s Broadway credits include his Tony Award nominated role as Princeton and Rod in the musical, Avenue Q; the role of Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast; and the role of Pinocchio in Shrek the Musical. His television credits include creating, executive producing and starring in the popular Disney Channel series "Johnny and the Sprites," for which he received an Emmy Award nomination, and still airs around the world. A 12-year veteran of Sesame Street, Tartaglia is one of the youngest puppeteers ever to perform on the show, starting at the age of 16. Off-Broadway credits include Carnival at City Center's Encores!; Children of Eden and Pippin at the Manhattan Center for a World AIDS Day benefit concert; and dozens of performances from the Manhattan Theater Club and Storm Theater to Merkin Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall.
