John Tartaglia’s IMAGINOCEAN, a new family musical adventure, created and written by Emmy and Tony Award nominated actor John Tartaglia, begins performances at the NEW WORLD STAGES (340 West 50th Street) on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.  John Tartaglia’s IMAGINOCEAN will officially open on March 31, 2010.

John Tartaglia’s IMAGINOCEAN follows the undersea adventures of a group of fish friends, who uncover a treasure map that leads them to learn about themselves and ultimately uncover the treasure of each other’s friendship. Produced by Jellyfish Jive Productions,  John Tartaglia, along with Philip Katz of Broadway Theatrical and musical theatre veteran Michael Shawn Lewis have teamed up to bring this innovative black light musical production to the stage.

“It’s a perfect musical for the entire family,” said Tartaglia. “It has a wonderful story, an amazing score and great humor.   We’ve created a theatrical experience that’s a perfect first show for kids, and the spectacular production will certainly capture the imagination of all ages.”    Producer Philip Katz noted, “The show has grown into a wonderful family experience.  John’s sense of wonder and magic are all over the production.”  John Tartaglia’s IMAGINOCEAN takes audiences on a one hour magical underwater journey full of surprises and special effects.  The seafaring stars Dorsel, Tank and Bubbles open an enchanted world of aquatic adventures where they meet jiving jellyfish, a strong-willed seahorse and a new friend, lovable Leonard the Octopus.

Veteran director and choreographer, Donna Drake, directs the cast of puppeteers who blend themselves seamlessly into the black light ocean floor, setting the stage afloat.  The production features: a lively original score with music and lyrics by composer William Wade, adorable characters that light up the stage with their effervescent color and personalities designed and built by the innovative artists at The Puppet Kitchen in New York City, and brilliantly colored sets that create the framework for this magical undersea journey designed by set designer Robert Kovach.

IMAGINOCEAN is the latest brain child of John Tartaglia, creator, executive producer and star of the Emmy Award nominated Johnny and the Sprites (now airing worldwide).  Earning a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Avenue Q, for which he originated the roles of Princeton and Rod, Tartaglia was most recently seen on Broadway appearing as Pinocchio in Shrek The Musical and previously starred as Lumiere in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  A 10-year veteran of Sesame Street, Tartaglia is one of the youngest puppeteers ever to perform on the show, starting at the age of 16.

Performances for John Tartaglia’s IMAGINOCEAN  are scheduled for Wednesdays at 11am, 2pm & 7pm; Saturdays at 11am, and Sundays at 12pm.  Tickets are $39 and can be purchased through TeleCharge (212) 239-6200 and at the box office at NEW WORLD STAGES.  For groups of 12 or more, please contact Group Sales Box Office at 800-223-7565 or by clicking here!
