CELEBRATES 1st ANNIVERSARY AT ST LUKE’S THEATRE and announces winners of QUIRKY QUIZ About DANNY KAYE AND SYLVIA FINE
On Sunday, May 16th, Brian Childers and Kimberly Faye Greenberg, stars of the off-Broadway hit musical “DANNY and SYLVIA: THE DANNY KAYE MUSICAL”, celebrated the show’s 1st anniversary by announcing the winners of the Quirky Quiz about Danny Kaye and his wife Sylvia Fine.
They announced the top three winners, who will each received a pair of complimentary tickets to the show, are Richard Webb, Andy Humm and Maryann Sullivan.
Following the matinee, Brian and Kimberly were joined on stage by (shown left to right): Musical director David Fiorello, Co-Producer Edmund Gaynes, and Costume designer Sandy Sardar.
The musical love story stars Helen Hayes Award-winner Brian Childers as Danny Kaye and Kimberly Faye Greenberg as his wife and creative partner, Sylvia Fine who wrote many of his most famous songs. Directed by Pamela Hall with choreography by Gene Castle, the musical follows the duo from the time the young undisciplined comic Danny Kaminsky meets aspiring songwriter Sylvia Fine at an audition in the 1930s. Under Sylvia’s guidance as mentor, manager and eventually, wife, Kaye rises from improvisational comic to international film star. The musical explores their inspired collaboration and the romance and conflict that made them such a volatile and successful couple. Many of Danny’s hit songs are featured including “Tchaikovsky,” “Anatole of Paris,” “Minnie the Moocher” and “Deenah.” The musical, which opened in NYC on May 13, 2009, has also been presented successfully in London and Washington, DC.
“DANNY and SYLVIA: THE DANNY KAYE MUSICAL”, which opened May 13, 2009, continues at St. Luke’s Theatre, 308 West 46th Street (west of 8th Avenue) in NYC. The current performance schedule is Wednesday & Sunday at 2 PM however, beginning June 5th, the schedule will be Saturdays at 5 PM and Tuesdays at 7 PM.
